Commissioned to do Great Works

Hello there!

Man! I am super pumped and super excited to write this blog post this morning. I legit feel like I just drank 2 Red Bull’s and if you know me personally, I can only handle about half a tiny can of any sort of energy drink such as that. So I am HYPER!

I am so excited because I am about to share what the Lord has been speaking and confirming to me. I have been searching my heart and going to him in prayer about what this blog will be a reflection of.

So how did this new season begin, and you might be wondering, hey Ash why now? You have had this whole blog for three years why are you taking it seriously now? Well, when you get direct orders you must obey. I can’t really even believe what I am about to say because my brain is trying to keep up with my spirit and my heart but the Holy Spirit loves to speak to me in word form in the wee morning hours, usually always on the weekend right before I come to and wake up for the day. It started about a month ago, I woke up and heard the word spoken over me, “Order.” I was thinking hmmm, Order? I remembered I attended a teaching not too long ago that explained Godly order and how we have to align our lives to God first. I thought well maybe I need to go check out those notes for more insight. I have learned that the Holy Spirit likes to reveal to us little by little until we discover the meat and potatoes of what he wants us to know. Kinda like a small appetizer before the main course! I know I should have been more obedient to diving into what he was trying to communicate with me but I didn’t, sad to say. I will share more on this topic at a later day.

The next week at the same exact time he spoke over me, “Commission.” I knew he was taking me straight to The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18. If you are new to the Great Commission I can educate you real quickly. So this is where Jesus is about to leave to ascend into heaven and he gets his disciples together and he tells them now “Go–With all authority in heaven and on earth that was Given to him (because he defeated sin and death on the cross after he died and rose again, he went down to hell and took back the keys of authority here on earth Adam handed over to Satan in the Garden, my own insert) to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that he commanded them, and then he promised them he would be with them always, to the end of the age.”

As born again believers in Christ we all have a part in this commission by Jesus himself, and when you listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit he will guide you into the way you should go with your commission.

I don’t speak of these things often because we live in a world with people who’s hearts are harden, and they have scales over their eyes to believe. These scales are their marks of pride. The Bible teaches us that God will remove this pride when we surrender what we think we know to him, when we allow him to give us a new heart as we confess that Jesus is our savior, repenting asking for forgiveness of our sins, and dying to our old self thus putting on our new self who we are/ our identity in Christ Jesus.

Since we are placed into such an environment of disbelief when we speak of these things, we literally sound like aliens or “religious nuts,” but the truth of the matter is we sound so foreign because we are speaking light and truth in a dark and deceived world. People who want to live in the freedom of believing they can make their own truth have a very hard time when you tell them there is only one truth and they are being deceived in their freedom of thinking the way they want.

John 1 teaches us that “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. He was the beginning with God. ALL THINGS were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not over come it. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become child of God, who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the WORD became flesh and dwelt amongst us, and we have seen his glory, glory as the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known. (John 1:1-18)

With all this said, we having Christ in us, who comes and makes his home in us at the conception of salvation, are the light carriers in this dark unredeemed place.

The Lord has put it on my heart to LET IT BE KNOWN! He is calling us to stand up, be bold and courageous, and speak HIS TRUTH every where we go.

Now do you have to be some weirdo that acts weird and has no friends and alienates their self to this weird religious bubble who everyone avoids from their weirdness?

Jesus is a “sneaky Jesus” as Steven Furtick would put him. He sneaks his truth in to others and his favorite way to do this is to use YOU AND ME to do his Fathers will! #GOD!

His sneaking his truth in can be LOUD by words or it can be soundless by our actions, but we are all called to do the works he predestined for us before the earth was formed! All we must do, is be obedient in the call.

So now you can understand why this blog will be so important to my walk, because it will be an outward reflection of my obedience to the call.

I woke up and I asked the Lord, “What do you want me to write about today Lord?” I then proceeded to get on Pinterest and search life style blogging for beginners because I am a nerd 🤓 about learning all the small details.

I began to reflect on my week and what he was teaching me, PRIDE that is in our hearts that come out in our words, but that will have to be another blog post, because as I was reading the scriptures I searched on pride Holy Spirit just dropped Exodus 4:5 into my thoughts. I thought to myself, okay lets go see what that says.

I have learned in my faith walk that the Lord does reveal things to me through scriptures, but I always read the content before and after to get the whole picture. Sometimes he speaks in a word, a one liner, a chapter, or a whole book!

What I need to insert here is that I have a prophetic gift where the Lord will just download words into my mind and they will be instructions or encouragement, whatever he decides to share with me. The words of knowledge can be to edify me, teach me, or to encourage or give wisdom and counsel to others whom he desires. I can’t write it all here because it is so long, but to summarize it up, two Sundays ago before church he just started talking and he didn’t let up. He told me, “LET IT BE KNOWN that he is the God who saves. Let it be known that he sets the captives free, that he heals,” and so on and so forth. Reflecting now it was like he was telling me to let it be known what all we are commissioned to do in Christ.

So back to Exodus 4:5. Let’s start with the beginning of the chapter shall we? You are going to love this. “Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, “The Lord did not appear to you.” We then see a dialogue between Moses and the Lord. The Lord is instructing him to activate his faith through a material thing, the staff which turns into a serpent. Moses runs from it, but then the Lord says take it by the tail and as Moses obeys the serpent turns back into the staff. He his giving Moses the ability to express himself through tangible evidence he can show the people so they would believe he is following the one true God. But verse 10 is where my heart sank and I could relate to Moses, and maybe you can too! “But Moses said to the Lord;”Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth?Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind?” Is it not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”

Exodus 4:5- “That they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, appeared to you.”

Why are we commissioned?

Why are we to share the good news?

Because we are surrounded by unbelievers who don’t believe, and how can they have faith to believe?

Faith comes from what is heard and what is heard comes from the message about Christ. Romans 10:17.

Because we are here to share the love of God with EVERYONE, and what is his heart for EVERYONE?

2 PETER 3:9 ” The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting ANYONE to perish, but everyone to come to repentance!”

His heart is that no man shall perish, but have ever lasting life through his Son, Jesus.

Why are we commissioned?

Because Christ wants us to be his hands and feet to share the gospel, the good news, that the only truth is HIM, the only FREEDOM is through him, and the only Healing is through him!

John 3:15 “That whosoever believe in him shall not persist, but have eternal life.”

“Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

So how is the Lord Commissioning you to be apart of the beautiful love story of his love and grace for his people?

How will you respond to the call?

Have you asked him to prepare your heart to leave a life that glorifies him?

Why not do it today?

Be still and wait, wait for him to disrupt your safe way of living for yourself.

Then sit back and hold on because you will be on the ride of your life!

Remember you don’t have to do anything out of your own strength, just out of your obedience to Christ.
