Monday Motivation- I am crazy enough not to give up

photo (10)

Well the count down begins! I have 25 days until my 30th Birthday!

Do you remember my FLEX IT FRIDAY post with my before picture? You can read the Flex it Friday post HERE! I was weighing in at 137 lbs, I am now currently down to 132 lbs. That puts me 5 pounds lighter.

I fell off my 14 week accountability tracker. Whoops! It happens. But I have been sticking with a cardio regimen 3-4 days a week with my weight lifting, which I did share one of my treadmill 500 calorie busting work outs that you can find HERE!

I also was sick a good three weeks due to a bad experience with some prescription antibiotics I was taking for acne! 😦 If you missed that miserable story it’s right here. I seriously didn’t eat much for a full week. NOT COOL!

I am still not as lean as I was hoping to be, but I do have a few more weeks to go! I am happy to report that I didn’t gain anymore weight or slack off to the point of losing all control of myself! Yea for that!

It is time to post another flexing photo (sigh) to let you know I am still fighting hard to reach my goal!

don't give up, motivation, work out

I guess I could have taken the five seconds to clean the mirror, but this is real life people, and I do have 4 children! LOL As you can tell by the traffic light toothbrush in the picture, and all the water marks on the mirror! (I will miss dirty bathroom mirrors when they are grown, I just know it!)

I have learned that no matter how much support or encouragement I get from others, I HAVE TO BELIEVE IN MYSELF, and so do you! Your weight loss journey is yours to take control of. Be Crazy! Think Crazy! Just don’t lose faith in what you are capable of doing!

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!    Philippians 4:13

What’s your favorite cardio exercise?

A dose of Monday Motivation- Your OWN WORST BATTLE

photo (7)

Can I get an AMEN from the crowd!? This very statement resonates deep into my heart with great conviction.

For a woman who struggles with actions sprinting after her feelings, this quote speaks so much truth to me this morning. It is such a great reminder to keep on keeping on doing what is right!

We all struggle with something raging inside of our souls. The battle within our selves are REAL. This War inside of us is called good and evil, right and wrong.

This quote reminds me of the importance of TRUTH and how it will help me win ANY BATTLE I may have within my soul!

My battles could be anything from fighting negative body image, getting along with others, laziness, discontentment, the list goes on…

There will always be what feels right and what actually is right.

There will always be what feels wrong that may actually be right. (Don’t think this is possible? Then go bless some one who despises you!)

When your battle is based on what you know and what you feel, you should always trust what you know to be TRUE! Always follow TRUTH!

Feelings are fickle, they lie, they can be a false sense of security, they can play on your emotions, they can be lifted up by others, or shut down and become numb. They put too much dependence on other people’s actions or words, and your own circumstances. Never trust your feelings, always trust the TRUTH!

What is TRUTH?

JESUS answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

And you will know the Truth, and it will set you free. John 8:32

What happens when you practice Truth?

But he who practices truth (Who does what is right) comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are-wrought with God (Divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him). John 3:21

And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. Galatians 6:9

Peace and Mercy be upon all who walk by this rule….Galatians 6:16

So no matter WHAT may come today, or this week, remember the battle will be between what you know is right and what feels right. How will you react to life in the present? Will you pursue/chase after peace and mercy by following truth, or will you trip yourself up on your feelings and land into a pit of self pity?

It all lies in your hands my friend!

Choose TRUTH!

Time of Reflection

The moments that bring us to a stand still are our opportunities to reflect where we are on our journey through life.

Trapped indoors on a rainy day.

Time to slow down and observe what is going on.

If nothing is broke don’t fix it.

If nothing is complete don’t force it.

Let it all be what it will be,

and be free of discontent.

God has got you this far, he hasn’t forgotten you, he will not leave you stuck, difficult times shall soon be a distant memory.

Maybe, just maybe He has you here to:

Love in the moment.

Live in the moment.

Sing in the rain.

Jump in mud puddles.

Soak up this beautiful wonderful thing we call life.

Rainy days or sunny days, soak it up, the rain and the rays.

Absorb life. Be alive. Love others.

In all things, be thankful, be graceful

Jump back on

Monday equals fresh start to the week! If you jumped off the band wagon over the weekend why not start back today?

I have learned that when I stop doing what I am suppose to be doing to keep my body in check doubt creeps in my mind! When I am busy keeping up with my running and my work outs, there is no room for doubt!

The more you do something, the easier it gets. The less you do something, the harder it gets!

Can you handle this 24 hr challenge?

Happy Monday!

Usually on Mondays I like to write something encouraging for the week ahead. I found this picture on my Facebook news feed and the ideas started flying for my blog.

Instead of just going the next 24 hours consciously aware that I’m about to make a 24 hour commitment not to complain, I will document how this challenge will play out! (This will be posted tomorrow, so make sure you come back to see how I do!)

Do you think it’s possible to go 24 hours without complaining on a Monday? 🙂 It’s a Scary challenge!!!

I promise you that I will be honest and if I do slip up, I will let you know.

To prepare my heart for this challenge I will mediate on these words from Philippians 2:14, 15 NIV
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky..”

When we complain we are immediately expressing that we are ungrateful. I know how frustrated I get when I hear my children complain about silly stuff like being bored when they have everything a child could want and more, or complaining because they wanted their bowl of cereal in the blue bowl, not the white bowl. I can only imagine how God must feel when I, myself, complain about the silly things in my life.

When we remember that the world doesn’t just revolve around us, we quickly realize how blessed we are. If you have a warm meal and a hot shower you are blessed beyond your means.

Don’t complain about the mess your kids made in the kitchen, or the 4 hours you are about to spend washing dirty laundry, be thankful you have children.
Don’t complain about your coworkers or your boss, be thankful you are employed and have stability at your work place.
Don’t complain about your circumstances that you can’t change, instead allow this to be a growing season for your character.
Don’t complain about your weight, be thankful for your health and if you are unhappy, change your eating habits.

I once heard when you complain you remain. Why? Because you are allowing your thoughts to stay focused on the negatives and not the positives!

When negative complaints come sneaking up in my heart and traveling up to my mouth I will say these words out loud
“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1 ESV

So do think you can handle this challenge I present to you on this fabulous Monday?

Do you think I will make it the whole 24 hours or are you betting I slip?
Where is your faith my friend?? 😉
Only time will tell!

If you are taking this challenge please comment below. Or check in with me on Facebook! I could use some encouragement myself! http://www.facebook.com/leighleighspeaks

WE CAN DO THIS!

Busting the Monday Morning Blues

monday

Monday’s happen to be one of my new favorite days of the week. I use to look forward to Friday’s because it was a sign of things ending and time to be spent resting with the Husband and kids. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy Friday afternoon around 4:10 when he comes walking through the door from work, but there is something inspiring about Mondays!

Monday marks new beginnings. Last week is behind us, a new week hangs in the mystery of the future. Maybe the older I get the more I seek after challenges. I am really not sure!

As you journey into a new week today I would like to give you some words of great wisdom found in Proverbs 21.

“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor.” Proverbs 21:21

To pursue something means to follow, to get, to be involved in.

Righteousness means morally good.

Prosperity is a condition of being well, successful, or thriving.

Honor means you are respected or judged of good character.

So when we put this all together it looks like this….

Whoever (anyone) goes after; chases; gets in involved in morally good things, and loves, will find life, the state of being well and thriving, and respected and esteemed by others.

How does this look played out in ones life? Well I don’t know about you but for me it looks like this.

I can pursue my husband in love. I can put him before myself by thinking of his needs first above mine. This may be taking an extra ten minuets of my afternoon to rub his back after a hard days work. Cooking his favorite meal, when I would rather pop in oven pizza. Running his errands, instead of lounging by the pool.

I can pursue my children by putting their needs above mine. I can do this by spending extra one on one time when I would rather send them up the stairs to play together. Take them to the park to feed the ducks, instead of making sure the house is absolutely immaculate for 5 minuets! Reading them a bible story instead of turning on the television.

I can pursue my friends and family by picking up the phone or sending a text to let them know I love them, that I am thinking of them, and I am praying for them. I can invite them over for play dates, or lunch.

Pursue my blog so that it will be fruitful to those who read it. Pursue my laundry so that it doesn’t collect to be the size of Mount Everest and take me down in defeat while my children holler out they have nothing to wear by Wednesday. Pursue my home so that my family has a clean, organized place to land after all the weeks events unfold outside of them home. You get the point! 😉

Pursue my relationship with Jesus by praying, reading my bible, singing songs of worship.

I can pursue righteousness by making conscious efforts to set my thoughts in heavenly places. Pray to not fall into temptation of road rage, impatience at the grocery check out line, laziness, negative thinking, nasty critical snap judgments of others. Stopping and pausing before I speak. Remembering to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Fixing my eyes on Jesus.

A-great-week-happy-Monday

Pursue is the exact opposite of Passive. We are creatures made to move not lie doormat.

Be inspired! Be excited that it’s Monday! It’s a new fresh start and as you go along this week remember to pursue, pursue, pursue!

Pursue love, righteousness and be amazed at its return of LIFE, PROSPERITY, and HONOR!

Stop and think about it for a moment. How will this week be different for you if you followed Proverbs 21:21’s advise?

xoxo
