Jealous when your Man notices Her?

I have a friend who has been dealing with some self-esteem issues. They seem to be deep rooted and have caused problems in her marriage. It’s a tragedy really. As much as I try to help her feel better about the situation, she pretty much just ignores me and brushes the problem under the rug. This is until the next offense occurs, and we go through the same cycle again. She tells me the problem, I try and reassure her that she is magnifying it in her mind, and then I speak some words of affirmation to her and try help her see the root cause, jealousy. She agrees it is a self-esteem problem, but she never fully understands just how to fix it.

Just recently she called me again, crying and upset with one of the same scenarios. She is very self conscious of her body after a carrying a couple of babies and the extra pounds that attached themselves onto her hips resulting in the high demands, stress, and late night munchies all of us moms can relate to. If she catches her husband as much as looking at another woman, fully clothed or half clothed, she immediately attacks him. She fills her mind up with wrong thoughts, and fuels the fights with her fury and anger. In his defense he feels helpless because in his mind he hasn’t done anything wrong.

It can be a tool of control for some women. They don’t feel they have much control of anything else, but they can control how they are going to treat their Man when he is caught looking at another woman. Fury fueled mean words come darting across the room until they penetrate the heart of their target. They are not happy until he is hanging his head in defeat, tale tucked between his legs. “I did it! I made him feel sorry! I win.” But sweetie you didn’t win anything.

You don’t feel any better after the fight is over. You have actually just deteriorated some of the love fibers that make up the threads that hold you two together. Little by little you are taking something away from the relationship and your love as a whole is being effected in a negative manner.

A random thought popped into my head here recently after I had time to process her latest offense, and left me with a question. I wanted to ask her, “How do you think you will solve this jealousy problem that seems to dictate your happiness in your marriage? Do you catch yourself fantasizing about if only I had another Husband, he wouldn’t make me feel so badly compared to another beautiful woman on TV, the internet, the shopping mall, the baseball game, where ever?”

PERFECT HUSBANDS don’t exist, because there is no perfect person living on this PLANET!

The honest truth is, another man isn’t going to not do what your husband is doing. And honestly if he isn’t lusting over her and indulging in pornography, or pursing an affair, asking for her numbers, etc.. he hasn’t made any offense. When you are in the grocery store minding your business do you not ever meet stares of a member of the opposite sex? Do you never just look at people in general? Of course you do!

So what is it about this other woman that has you feeling so worthless? What is it about his stare that makes you believe he thinks you are not good enough or attractive enough to be called his beloved and prized wife?

Is it her lean slender body? You could always change your eating habits, join a gym and strive to become more active. Over time, and let me tell you this wont happen over night, or even in a few weeks, but maybe months to a year, your body will change and you will appear to be lean and slender.

Is it her long beautiful hair? You could take lots of vitamins, research all those pinterest posts on how to grow thick long beautiful hair, make hair masks, only brush it when it is dry, etc… all those silly antics we are all suppose to believe. Over time, you will have long beautiful hair.

What is it? What does she have that you feel like you don’t have?

As put together and perfect as she may appear in this whole 1.2 seconds that your man is looking at her, she is no different than you. We are women, we all have our quirks and our own flaws, and trust me there is not one single person out there who isn’t insecure about something!

But my point is this… can I whisper some sweet truth into your ear today, and hope and pray that this little truth acts as a patch that repairs the self hating, self condemning holes drilled out by your insecurities you have created in your head about your image of yourself…

Your worth is not diminished by the amount of stares your husband gives another woman!

I will say it again; your worth is not diminished by the amount of stares your husband gives another woman.

He may be intrigued by her outward beauty, but inside she could be the ugliest snake that has slithered the Earth; or CRAZIEST! 😉

1 Samuel 16:7

“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”(NIV)

So now what? Have you caused your whole day to be ruined, and your relationship and security with your husband to suffer because of a pretty girl who happened to walk across your mans path and he noticed?

Your husband isn’t responsible for your self worth or your identity. Don’t ever let him have that kind of control or power, because unfortunately he isn’t the perfect husband, and you will be disappointed. Don’t put that kind of pressure on him, no one deserves to have that kind of pressure on them, honestly. There is only one who can handle that kind of pressure and he goes by the identity of I AM! 🙂

GOD!

Your self worth should come from your creator, and when he had finished knitting you in your mothers womb so fearfully and so wonderfully said, this is GOOD!

The truth is, you can pretty much fix anything these days your not happy with on your body thanks to modern day plastic surgery, liposuction, face lifts, injections, fake hair, fake tans, fake anything really. My opinion on all the fake stuff doesn’t count for much. Opinions of others shouldn’t matter, and to each their own. I say do whatever you need to do to feel good about yourself with of course the logic of balance! 😉 But if you don’t fix what is going on in the inside of your heart, your mind, your soul, you are never going to be completely happy with yourself or your outward appearance. You are just going to waste a lot of money, effort, and time in the process of fixing something you were not created to fix.

Please just STOP measuring your value in the wrong places! Stop letting the devil get into your head and OFFENDING you! First of all you have no clue what he is thinking when he is just looking at what is in front of him, unless you can read his mind! Then you are like some kind of super woman! 🙂 You are only listening to those lies Satan plants in your mind.

There was obviously something pretty fantastic about you that struck him silly and said, “Out of all the beautiful women on this planet, I must have this one! I pick her!”

Absorb the following truths found in scripture:

“You are precious in my eyes, honored, and loved…” Isaiah 43: 4

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” (NIV)1 Peter 3:3-4

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting: but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” (NIV) Proverbs 31:30
The point God is trying to drive home in scripture is this; the heart is what makes you beautiful. The heart controls your beauty.

I don’t think 1 Peter 3:3-4 is literally saying you should never buy any pretty clothing or jewelry. It is just trying to make you focus on inner beauty because, um, in case you’ve forgotten, these bodies we live in are only temporary. No amount of botox or hours on the treadmill and hitting the bar bells are going to save us from aging! If you value yourself based on your outward appearance you are going to be left feeling empty and sad when you are old and wrinkly because of the beautiful results of a long life lived.

If you have a beautiful heart ,that you know with out a shadow of a doubt is valued by God, you will see yourself differently. You wont even be wasting your time on silly thoughts because you will know the truth, and it will set you free from comparison to any other beautiful woman or feeling devalued.

God didn’t give her anything more than he gave you. He didn’t use all his efforts on knitting her beautifully together, and then decide to use all the scrap piles for knitting you. He doesn’t work that way!

ALL things were created GOOD and for his GLORY, which means you were created GOOD and for his GLORY.

If you are a child of God, then you are valued to Him because when he sees you, he sees his Son, Jesus!

Don’t keep running around those same circles with Satan who is only trying to screw up your happiness! You are fantastic! You are enough! You are beautiful!

Love,

Leigh Leigh

You are the Beholder of your own Beauty

  📷credit @heyjuniorbeltran on IG
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What are you holding when you stare into your own reflection?

Our negative perspective in our minds about ourself creates the ability to never become the beautiful creature God created us to be. He has given every single one of us beauty and gifts to be used for his glory.

One bird doesn’t say to the other bird, “I wish I had your beautiful feathers, not my purple ones.”

Look at the Trees!

Each tree is shaped differently, but my eye doesn’t catch all the differences, I just see beautiful!

When we see an attractive person we are drawn in to what is their best attributes, their unique beauty.

Why must we only pick out our flaws and never focus on our beauties?

We magnify what we want to!

What are you magnifying today?

He thinks I’m Beautiful

Beauty through the eyes of a 29 year old Woman.

I look back  now on the ages of 15,16, 17. I remember longing for the days I would be 20 something, then I told myself, I would feel beautiful. I would look mature and have a womanly figure, large breast, nice curves. You know something like Jessica Simpson. I would be able to dress so glamourous, with my matching accessories and heels because hello I would be an adult with my own money to spend accordingly. My make up would be spot on because I would be old enough to wear what ever I wanted, not what Mom preferred.

It was a real shock to look at my body 25 years old with 2 kids. I didn’t see long beautiful flowing hair, nice firm round bottom with large perky breast, quite the opposite! What Mother has time for glamour and fancy make up when she is chasing after 5 plus kids!! My breast some how became smaller then my former teenage years thanks to nursing my two beautiful babies! My waist was fine, but beautiful would never come to mind when I looked at my reflection in the mirror, more like exhausted, let go, worn out, with comfortable clothes on for fashion!

I decided to embrace my body for what it was worth. I guess that is why I started working out. I would be lying to you if I said it was just to feel strong and be healthy. There was some vanity pushing my driving force to get fit! I had the power to change my new mommy body or I could continue to let Motherhood have it’s toll on me and my appearance.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally feel so much better when I am eating clean foods and running. I actually got a taste of what I feel like when I food binge over Thanksgiving and I felt physically sick! My stomach gave me problems for days, and I felt sluggish and just GROSS! So I can now say yes I continue to work out and eat clean because it makes me feel pretty and it makes my body and mind feel GOOD!

4 and 1/2 years later, I am still in a battle with myself when I look into that mirror. I am much more satisfied with my toner body. I do wish this adult acne would go away and never return. My make up well it is still not perfect. Some days I don’t wear any. My hair is far from long and wavy and beautiful. I tend to enhance my flaws with out appreciating what I do have gazing at my reflection!

Beauty! It’s long thick beautiful wavy hair, large breasts, tiny waists, clear skin, white perfect teeth, toned stomach, arms, legs, bum.Well that is what all these magazines and TV shows throw in my face anyways.

Now my almost 30 year old self has and is experiencing, battle scars from over stretched skin due to carrying two 8 pound babies, fine wrinkles, hair growth in unexpected places, gray hair!! I don’t remember Cindy Crawford and all the other beautiful women having these issues going on with their Magazine covers!

But then you spoke just 5 words. These 5 words would shake my skewed perception of beauty. Confuse me actually!

“You are a Beautiful Woman!”

Something I had longed to be since the ripe age of 15, a ” Beautiful Woman.”

Yes you tell me I am beautiful all the time when I am all dressed up and ready to go have fun on a date night. That’s because I put in all the hard work, time, and effort to deserve such a compliment! But this time when you told me I am beautiful woman, it was spontaneous, and unwarranted. I didn’t have one smudge of make up on, no cute outfit, just my lounge clothes, and I am pretty positive I didn’t even  run a brush through my hair all day.

Maybe I couldn’t believe it for myself because I have been so brainwashed (LIED TO) since an early age as to what standards of beauty are. Maybe before you I was never told that sincerely. Maybe I thought it was a lie told to gain something from me by others?

I know your words are real because I know it is true to you and you believe it. You are the only person I trust completely. You are speaking truth into my soul that only you could say for me to believe.

You made me see beauty through your eyes, not my own. You make me feel beautiful not only with your words, but your looks, your warm embrace, your kisses, your devotion to me and our family, and continuing to love me more and more each day.

photo (40)

I am not sure I will ever fully see what you see when you look at me, but that’s okay because each time you tell me those five words, I start to believe it more and more for myself.

Women need this truth! WE need to hear that we are beautiful bare and in our natural state. We need to believe that beauty isn’t based on the outward appearances alone but what is on the inside. We need you to remind us of these truths as the world throws the next best air brushed hottie in our face!

We trust you, our loving Husband. We believe you. Your words are enough for us, you know!

Thank you my love for seeing what I don’t see and helping change my perspective on beauty!

I wish I could go back and tell the 15, 16, 17 year old me that the beauty I was chasing after would never fulfill me the way the love of my Husband will.

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee- A MUST HAVE FOR FALL

Summer is over but that doesn’t mean your gorgeous summer glowing skin has to be! No WAY!!

bronzing

Here are 6 reasons why I am in LOVE with L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee Medium Natural Tan!

#1 The price– $8.79! I believe Wal-Mart had it even a little cheaper. I bought mine in August so I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it. My web search found the price listed above at Walgreens.com Here is a link to purchase! http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/l%27oreal-paris-sublime-bronze-self-tanning-gelee/ID=prod6053802-product

#2 It dries SUPER Quick! I like to apply mine after I shower and towel dry. I usually wait around 5 minuets before dressing. I go straight to sleep and wake up with a nice tan!

#3 It has a streak free formula!

#4 It smells “OK!” Sublime Gelee doesn’t stink as bad as other Self-Tanners I have applied to my skin in the past.

#5 The tan is beautiful and does look REAL! It develops a very natural color and glow!

#6 Compliments! My husband totally digs the color on me!

bronzingback

Here are some tips that I have learned about using this Gelee!

  • Make sure you exfoliate and shave in the shower before applying to skin! (I will not exfoliate my skin until the night of a reapplication. Over exfoliating after you apply Gelee can shorten the life of your tan.)

  • If you want to apply Gelee in the morning make sure that you wear dark clothes so that the tanner doesn’t rub on your skin and tint your clothing! It hasn’t stained any of my pj’s thus far! It washes right off in the wash machine.

  • Use sparingly on your knees, ankles, elbows, and feet!!

  • Apply daily until you reach your desired tan. I usually will apply three days in a row, and then I will go to twice a week! The more you apply and use the Gelee you will learn what works best for you!

  • It can go over Tattoos! I have a sleeve on my right arm. I have used this sparingly on the sleeve and it works just well with my ink!

This Just cracks me up! I found this image on Pinterest!

Quick Beach Wavy Hair Straight from the Bottle

Summer Friday’s have this Busy Momma on the Go, Go, Go! This happens to create some serious #hairstruggles post morning work out. As you can imagine after a hour of Zumba followed by another 30 minuets of a shoulder lifting my hair is a sweaty drenched mess.

A shower is a MUST!

Being that my Friday’s have been crazy busy these past couple of weeks, running madly outside of my home on various errands, leaves me a very small window of time to grab a quick shower. Yes, the wet hair slicked back in a pony or bun can come in handy, but I have found a super easy way to create Beach Wave locks, in minuets!! (quick shower included)

straight hair

I have to share this picture with you so you can see just how STRAIGHT my hair is. I have very fine hair and volume just does not come natural for me, even with color on my hair! Go, Figure!

This would probably be a good time to post a picture of my sweaty post work out hair, but I will spare you for today! 😉

Here is my hair after a quick shower. Check that volume out! You would have never guessed that I was a sweaty mess just 30 minuets prior to this photo!

Get the Look

Now here comes my favorite drug store find of the season………………….Walgreens!

seasaltspray

I have tried several sea salt sprays to get this look with much disappointment.

I LOVE this spray!

Wash your hair , towel dry, then comb out any tangles.

Pick out something fabulous to wear and get dressed.

Go ahead and apply your favorite bronzer, blush, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, and lip gloss. (If you desire!)

Shake your TXT IT spray and spray all over your tresses. Starting from the bottom of your hair, start scrunching your locks from the bottom to the roots. (As much hair as you can hold in your hand.) Squeeze a handful of hair and release.  Repeat until all of your hair has been hand scrunched.

*Feel free to spray in more spray and scrunch some more until desired look is reached.

Now to my favorite part:

Let it air dry and Go!

You will notice that the bottle says “All day (un)dressed Look. If you are going for something more put together, then I suggest skipping the spray, blow dry out, and roll with wand.

Remember we are in a hurry and on the go, that’s why we are opting for the messy beach waves look!

L’Oreal Paris did not give or ask me to review this product. This review is strictly of my own personal opinion.

How do you achieve quick beach waves? I would love to learn other ways as well! Comment below please!

The Flower child

Hippie-flower_-_Virginia_-_ForestWander

Kenna, my four year old daughter, is a complete joy and blessing. She has been a go get her since birth. She is my baby out of the bunch and she has just always had this way about her that oozes free spirit. You would find her shoulder deep in side walk chalk and candy as a toddler, and now her favorite past time is collecting bugs, dead or alive, she doesn’t mind.

chalk

She enjoys the earth and all its dirt and glory, but she still loves to dress up in her princess dresses and put on make up with Momma’s high Heels.

lipgloss

She may be a “Classy” Flower girl, if there was ever such a thing! She has recently asked me if she could sleep in just her shorts like her brother does! Which I followed up with , “When you are an adult living on your own, you may wear whatever you would like to sleep in, but for now let’s keep the jammies on!”

I promised the kids I would take them swimming when we returned home today from Mommies work out time at the Gym. When we stepped foot in our home, I hurried to make lunches and they scrambled to find their bathing suits. Handling typical Momma pre pool responsibilities, I was the last to get my gym clothes off and get changed, and just like clock where right as I am changing my shirt, Kenna bursts into my room unannounced to announce some nonsense none the less. I really think kids just have this six sense that tells them when Mom is not available and would prefer to remain unavailable to them, you know, bathroom breaks and other sorts! 😉

“Mom!” She blurts out!

I replied with a silent, “What?”

“YOU HAVE BRAS ON?” (Not to confuse you, I am not a freak of nature that requires two, as in plural, bras on at one time, she has always called a bra a bras!)

“WHY MOM!?”

I answered calmly, ” Well of course I do, it’s a sports bra Kenna, Mommies wear those when they work out.”

“WELL I DON’T LIKE THAT MOM, I DON’T LIKE IT WHEN YOU WEAR BRAS!”

At this moment, I am completely puzzled.

“Why Kenna, Why does this bother your or concern you that I have a sports bra on? Remember I told you before all women wear them.”

I almost couldn’t contain my laughter when she responded with such horror in her voice and shock on her face.

“I DON’T WANT YOU TO BE THE CRAZY MOM WHO WEARS BRAS!”

That was the completion of that conversation. I didn’t even have the words to respond!

I have to say I still sit here giggling just as dumbfounded as I was when the words first jumped off her lips trying to figure out why on earth wearing a “bras” would make me “The Crazy Mom!”

Wasn’t the “The Crazy Mom” the Lady who goes out in public with no bra on!? 🙂

So this concludes my suspicions as to why there isn’t a shadow of the doubt, that I am absolutely raising the next Flower Child.  I sure hope this mind set of hers changes before we hit middle school, or we may just have some bumping of the heads! I have decided it is not a bad ideal to pray for grace now for the days to come with Miss Kenna!

I love that little girl to pieces! ❤

Work out hair accessory MUST have

photo (9)

When you walk into the gym, it is no surprise that headbands are super popular amongst the female population. They come in all widths, shapes, sizes, and colors.

In my failed attempts to find the perfect headband, that actually stays in place, I now own a large collection of headbands I have absolutely no use for because they just don’t fit my head right. Why, because I was blessed with a small head and very fine hair. This creates chaos while I am working out because the band will not stay put without sliding off or onto my neck and here comes all the hair right in my face, choking me or blinding me while I run. NOT COOL! I believe I am not the only lady with this problem because lately I have been seeing other women with headbands on using bobby pins or hair clips to secure their band in place.

I wish I could take credit for this awesome headband find, but I can not! These headbands were actually a secret sister gift that I received a few weeks ago! If I have sparked your interest enough, you are probably trying to figure out what brand makes these awesome babies and what they are called. They are the Goody SLIDE-PROOF secure fit headbands. They come in a pack of six. My bands came in purple, blue, yellow, red, black, and orange. These bands are awesome because they have a thin line of rubber underneath the band that clings on to your head without pulling your hair.

photo 2 (8)

Like I previously stated earlier, I have had these bands for almost a month now and I have worn them over and over to zumba class, the gym, on my runs, and even around the town running errands. They are still fitting my head snug and haven’t worn lose.

You can use one or double up with two or three for style! Perfect for the up do, low ponytail, or leave it in with your hair down!

photo (3)

I LOVE these and I thought maybe there is someone out there who shares the same headband struggles! 😉

She doesn’t know why she doesn’t love herself

She is driving a minivan full of children to school, sorting laundry, filing reports behind a desk, listening to mindless chatter from her girlfriends, taking orders, reading food labels as she grocery shops. She is behind the voice you hear on the phone, she is in the cosmetics department glancing at all the beauty products on the shelf, reading all the promises the product will make her feel if she uses it. But, she is empty inside and she doesn’t know why? You see her everyday, you both make small talk and continue about your way. She has a dirty little secret, the same one a lot of us hide. She doesn’t really love herself and she doesn’t even know why.

Maybe it’s that she has always been told she has a wide bottom, her legs are too short, chest too flat, nose is too long, and that beauty mole that came from grandma does not make her feel beautiful at all. It has to be the dimples in her thunder thighs, her super stringy hair, acne on her checks, forehead wrinkles that are growing ever deeper. Surely she must know that this is all outward appearance stuff that pertains nothing to her heart, her soul!  But she hasn’t the faintest clue. That’s because she hasn’t discovered what true love really is.

Think of it like this. For me, growing up what my Mother said was pretty on me, I believed. She was my very first beauty and fashion expert. Even to this day as a 29 year old woman I still call my Mother and ask her what hair color looks best on me. Why do I do this? Because she is my Mom, the woman who nurtured and raised me, and the only one who will tell me the brutal truth when I ask of her opinion or advise without crushing my ego. Mother always knows best and I trust that she would never tell anything to make me, her baby girl, look or feel ugly!!

I truly believe this is how I should look to my heavenly father as well. If you think your Mother favors you, can you imagine how much God favors and adores you?! After all, He is my creator who knows me better then dear mom or myself. I know that he would never want me, his perfect creation, to feel ugly, unworthy, and unloved, just like my Mom.

1 John 4:19

“We love because he first loved us.”

God loved you so much that he gave his one and only son that whoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life. We also know that that there is no greater love then to lay down ones life for one’s friend. John 15:13 ( I know he calls me friend see John 15:15) Jesus came into the world to save his people who where separated from God because of their sin. He sacrificed his life for me. He died so that I may be forgiven of my sin, free from the slavery of my sin, and made me holy and righteous by his blood! He loved me before I was conceived in my mothers womb, and he will never stop loving me. His love never fails, it never gives up, and it never runs out on me. His mercy and grace are new to me every morning. He thinks I am precious in his sight, worth saving, worth dying for, worth rescuing, worth healing, worth forgiving on a second by second daily basis.

When I keep my eyes fixed upon him and his love for me, I can love myself. Why? Because I know he first loved me!

We gain confidence when we believe someone does love us and accepts us flaws and all, we can start to embrace that security and love and accept ourselves. We can do this with the power of the holy spirit’s help through our prayers. We can always ask God to let us see ourselves the way he sees us. We can ask for help with self control, you know one of the fruits of the spirit we have as believer in him. Start soul searching, praying, asking God to reveal how beautiful and perfect you are in his sight. Meditate on his words and scriptures about his love for you daily.  If  you are really struggling with inward or outward beauty right now, I urge you to write down on sticky notes these scriptures you find and post them on your bathroom mirror, or stuff them in your purse. Sometimes we just need to be reminded a little more then others! These words that you mediate on are called words of truth. God can not lie and he will not lie to you. Words of criticism and negativity are just whisper’s of Satan.

God loves you so much, he created the beautiful Woman you are inside and out. He loves you on your worst days, he loves you on your best days. He never stops loving us. Even on our ugliest days he is here patiently waiting for us to seek him for his love and assurance. I am sure the last thing he wants is to see you, his child, walking around not loving yourself so Knock it OFF!! 🙂

Love yourself because HE first loved you….and he still loves you!

She doesn’t know why she doesn’t love herself …………..because she doesn’t know how loved she is.

What are the lies that Satan whispers to you about yourself? What encourages you to love yourself more? Please share, I would love to know!
