Super Easy Double Meaty Delicious Beef Stew Recipe

double meaty beef stew

Like most men, my Husband is always craving something hearty and meaty for Dinner. We are a family of 6 and on the constant go for most of the school year due to football and basketball games so I rely on my crockpot to help satisfy my families tummies A LOT! This Double Meaty Beef Stew  is slow cooked all day long in the crockpot, which makes meal time prep a swift breeze! So let’s get right to it shall we?

Instead of regular stew meat you pick up at your local grocery store look for thinly sliced Carne Picada Extra Thin. It is over there by the stew meat. I found it at WAL-MART. To make this recipe double meaty we are going to add hamburger meat as well.

Ingredients:

2 cans corn (white and yellow mix)

2 cans green beans

2 cans diced tomatoes

2 cans carrots

1 big can stewed tomatoes

1 tbsp. coconut oil

1 lb. ground beef ( browned in skillet-do not drain grease)

photo 1 (6)

Directions:

Heat coconut oil in your skillet on Med-High Heat. Lightly flour the Carne Picada Extra thin meat and brown in skillet. Set aside, do not drain.

Brown ground beef in separate skillet. Do not drain.

Empty all your canned veggies, stewed tomatoes, and potatoes into your crockpot.

Empty Beef Stew season packets into crockpot.

Empty your Carne Picada and your ground beef into crockpot.

Now take a look and see if your stew level is lower then the fill line of the crockpot. If it is, add water until you get it to the top!

Slow cook on High in crockpot for 5-6 Hours.

Empty in big bowls and enjoy!

We love to eat our Double Meaty Beef Stew with some yummy sweet cornbread!
In the South we love our TEA and our Cornbread SWEET! 🙂

I use the Jiffy Cornbread Mix!
photo 2 (4)
I follow the directions on the box  for my cornbread, but to make it sweet I add a half cup of sugar into the mix. I have to use two boxes because of my family size so I end up adding a full cup of sugar to the cornbread mix before I bake it as the box instructs!

How do you make your Beef Stew? What are some tips or tricks you have learned to make it more hearty? Have you ever tried sweet cornbread?

All Moms need to know about the Traveling Picnic

trays

Especially Busy on the Go Moms!

Are you a super busy Mom who often wishes there was an easier way to feed your kids while you are on the go with out stopping for FAST FOOD? Why didn’t I think of this years ago and the clean up is SO EASY!!!

My week day meal time drama:
4:30pm head to Gym (which is about 15 minuets from my home)
4:50-6:00pm work out (back and biceps day)
6:30 Basketball game 15 minuets away from my Gym
Expected arrival to home after basketball games 8:45/9:00pm
Bedtime- 8:00pm

My solution for said planned drama for meal time: a TAVELING PICNIC!

My kids had a PB&J dinner picnic with meal trays in the mom mobile traveling from the gym to big Brother’s Basketball game this evening!

No excuses get your work out in Busy Moms!

The kids loved something out of the ordinary for dinner and the meal trays made it super easy for them to eat their meal in their booster seats!

Happy Tummies equals no hungry annoying kids bugging you while Mommy watches Big High School Bubba play his basketball game!

Traveling Picnic! Tell all your Mom friends! :0)

*Don’t have time for prepare a picnic? Then go ahead and go through the drive through, but leave your meal trays in your car! It helps keep your mom mobile clean and it is a simple clean up!

Saying Goodbye to being a Mother of a Preschooler

I feel like I am mixed up in TRANSITION of no longer being a Mother of preschool aged children!

For the past 10 years I have had at least one child who was preschool age at home. My story of a Mother of 4 is a little complicated. I have actually been even if only momentarily a Mother of over 18 children. I know what your thinking so let me answer your question! No, I am not related to the Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe!

I have been a Mother of a preschooler for 10 years!!!

The journey started when I was 19. I married a man who had  primary custody of his two small children 2 and 5. We married when I was 20 which officially made me step mom to his 3 and 6 year old children. At the age of 21 I had my first child who is now 8. We began our foster parent journey while he was 2. We have fostered over 18 children from 2008- until just last month!

The small 2 year old and 5 year old I fell in love with 10 years ago are now 13 (middle school) and 16 (high school )! My baby is 5 (pre-k) and my oldest is 8 (elementary).

Having a preschooler in the house has been a HUGE part of my mom identity for so long I am now having some issues getting use to being a part of the “older kids Mom Club!” (If there is such a thing, because I can’t seem to find one!) I mean I have a 16 year old Step Son for crying out loud! Ha ..not to mention I am only 29!

It seems that there is a high demand for encouragement and advice for Moms of preschoolers! I would know! I served as a leader of the MOPS STEERING team for 2 years and loved every minuet of it. I attended the MOMCONs which we AMAMAZING I like to add!

Where is my child is not a preschooler but not a teenager either Club, or the Club for the Mom who has two sets of aged children: Not preschool/not teenager and Mom of TEENS!? I need help and support when I get asked where babies come from, why there are evil people in the world, why cake is not considered a dinner food, why some people have two mommies and two daddies and I only have one!? The list goes on!

Motherhood is a  journey in itself. As we are raising our children up to be suitable adults, we are growing more mature all the while, and all the wiser! A mother of a preschooler seems to be trapped into that identity and mindset even if she does have much older children she is raising as well! Let’s not mention how Step motherhood is like a whole nother adventure of motherhood!!! Foster Motherhood is bitter, sweet.

To think that this coming fall I will not have any small children at home feels so strange and foreign to me. I work at a Mothers Day Out Preschool three days a week so even while I am at work, my child has been there with me. Next year she will be going to public school, and I will officially be separated from all my children during the school day! 😦

I am basically just rambling, but I am curious if this is just a normal thought/emotional process for a mom who is no longer a mom to a child under 4?

Strong is the NEW SEXY! What do you think?

Have you heard that Strong is the new Sexy!? So now days you can’t even look like you just need to go eat a cheese burger anymore, you have to be buff and stacked, because strong is the new skinny! TALK ABOUT PRESSURE TO THE EGO!

Approximately 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5% of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media.  Information taken from http://www.dosomething.org Check out their 11 facts about body image HERE!

Over 60 percent of U.S. adult women are overweight, according to 2007 estimates from the National Center for Health Statistics of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Just over one-third of overweight adult women are obese. Information taken from http://www.womenshealth.gov

As a Christian woman I believe in Spiritual Warfare and how the enemy’s number one goal is to make sure we never know the truth about how God sees us. For one we are created in His image, and two He doesn’t judge our outward appearance, but our hearts! We were not created for some one else’s eye candy enjoyment. We should not have to live our lives revolved around harsh words spoken about our selves from our own selves, or others, or to be at war with everything we put in our mouths!

image found on pinterest
image found on pinterest

These bodies we have now will age and wither away like the flowers, but our souls will live for eternity.

It is hard to keep this perspective in mind when we are force feed nothing but images of I am assuming the 5% of our populations women, or some very good air brushing skills! ( Might I add, ever notice how all these beauty magazines are RIGHT by the Impulse JUNK FOOD! GASP!!- A true nightmare for any emotional eaters!)

And what is it with the NEW SEXY!!? Since when did the beautiful healthy design God created  our bodies to be for his glory be used and cheapened in todays society as market tools to make a buck with labels such as HOTT and SEXY?  I do believe God created our bodies to be Beautiful, Strong and Healthy! Sexy? Well I believe that is where the opinion of your spouse comes in!

Let’s take the focus off of being SEXY and focus on being HEALTHY, FREE from self condemnation, and WHOLE, made right by Christ!

Let’s not just be Healthy as in physical health, but also our spiritual and emotional health as well.

It is not SEXY or HEALTHY to have  what society calls the perfect body if you are trapped inside your own hell you have created in your mind of striving for perfection, self love, and self acceptance, and never obtaining it. Never looking or feeling good enough for your own standards. Not to mention over exhausting your physical abilities, or creating unhealthy eating disorders!

Eating disorders, depression, substance abuse, and early sexual activity in adolescents  spawn from poor self body image that is linked to self esteem.

I am not saying it is not okay to find some motivational pictures to help encourage you to lose weight or gain size, however as long as you are totally aware that the picture of them and their body is  a direct result of a long hard road of hard work, and dedication they spent on themselves.  Don’t expect to achieve that with out doing what they did to get that, unless of course they are the 5% of the population. 😉 Your results may not look the same. There is thing called genetics, and so you may just not have the genes to shape your body exactly like theirs, and that is okay!

Why?

Because you are special and unique, fearfully, and wonderfully made! Who wants to have the same exact everything as someone else on this planet? I know I for one do not! It wastes the beauty that was made on me when I was created in His image.  It wastes the beauty that was made on you when you were created as well!

Your body was created in God’s very own image.

Genesis-1-27

Back to the spiritual warfare: So how can we beat Satan at his own game? See I just recently learned that when Satan whispers things to us they are only half true. It is masked with sort of truth, but then there is the ugly lie.

The World wants us to see other women who are strong, athletic,  and lean, as nothing more then hot SEX symbols, and that our self worth, value, and happiness is all rolled into looking and feeling SEXY, but God want’s us to be healthy and strong so that we can have longevity to live out his works he has planned for our lives. He wants us to get our self worth, value, self love, happiness from Him and his love for us!

How can we continue to live out our calling and stay healthy, if we are constantly staying  still and stagnant while consuming fake food, processed junk food, and load of sugary drinks? This makes us feel like junk ourselves! You have to get moving and you have to start making better, cleaner eating choices!

Stop pursuing vanity and start pursuing health and wellness and growing in your faith. What is the bonus? A more alert, energized, revitalized,  strong, healthy, loving, and fit you!

1 Timothy 4:8 For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

You can be the most beautiful woman in the world, but if your inside is full of junk, lies, jealousy, envy, hate, bitterness you are not beautiful at all!

God sees our hearts! He is constantly looking at the hearts of people searching back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward him, so that he can show his great power in helping them (2 Chronicles 16:9 TLB). Notice I didn’t say he is searching the earth looking for the most attractive, slim, skinny, buff, hunky, beefy, stacked humans to carry out his work.

Change your perspective and your motives that are the driving force of your desire to change your weight or you body image, and you will see something beautiful happen! Self love, and Self acceptance.

Something Free for YOU in 2015

I work out, I run, I watch what I eat (for the most part), and I take lots of gym selfies and bathroom selfies of my body. (Vain I know right?)

I put in the work and then a month later I reflect on the changes. Did my arms get more toned? Muscle growth in my legs? The proof is in the picture remember? Check out that blog post here… Proof is in the Picture!

I am wired to think that I have to put in, put in, put in to gain my rewards. Maybe your thing isn’t working out. Maybe you love to crochet, or paint, or sew, or fish, or hunt, or bargain shop!

You still have to put in, put in, put in the time and the energy and effort, the “work” to gain a finished blanket, beautiful painted canvas, that deer rack for your wall, lots of money saved on clothes, etc. To get what you want you have to work really hard for it!

That’s why my flesh has a hard time believing that I can’t work my way up on God’s good girl list. I can’t earn his love, mercy, grace, favor, etc.. The truth is he will never love me more then he does in this very instant. I can’t even earn salvation. Salvation is a free gift that God gives us because he just loves us and wants us to have a life of victory!

Eph-2-9-350x350

Ephesians 2:9

Don’t let the stress and pressure of pursuing a new you this New Years take your mind and attention off the one thing that truly matters the most, your SALVATION. The best part is, it’s free! All you have to do is acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a savor, believe Jesus Christ paid the price for your sins when he died on the cross and then rose again, ask for forgiveness and then repent, turn away from your sinful ways. Invite Jesus into your heart to be the Lord and Savior of your life. There will be an eternal inheritance awaiting those who follow Jesus.

If you have never said a prayer of salvation but are now being lead to you can say this little prayer below out loud.

“Dear God I know I’m a sinner, I know I am not where I want to be, and I want your forgiveness!  I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for my sins.  Please wash me clean from all sin, shame, and guilt, come into my heart Jesus to be my Lord and Savior.  I ask this in your name Jesus. Amen!”

John 3:16   For God so loved the world he gave his one and only begotten son that who shall ever believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 10:9   If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

All you have to do is believe it and by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, you will be saved!

tumblr_ltw2dcxDey1qleclho1_1280

If you said this simple prayer and by faith believe it, you friend are now a child of God forever and my fellow sister or brother in Christ! It’s that simple!

Now continue 2015 getting to know more about God, His son Jesus, and his Holy Spirit! The bible has several translations, find one that helps you understand the text the best. (I like the NLT version myself.)

First work out for 2015

This afternoon was my first official 2015 work out! The gym was packed, as expected. We, my husband and I, had to change up our routine as well as all the benches and free weights were in use by the mass gym newbies.

We went ahead and knocked out biceps and back instead of our planned chest work out.

I did the thing I usually never do, if you guessed hopped on the scale you are correct! Yes, I know I really shouldn’t have after 2 weeks of being off work and Holidaying it up! I weighed in at 133. I will more then likely jump on the scale at the end of January and see where I am at. I usually stay around 130, so I put on just a few pounds. Not as bad as I expected so I’m okay with that!

Back to work tomorrow! I have missed my Teacher friends and all the cute kids. My kids however are not happy tomorrow is back to school for them too! They are already counting down the days to Spring Break!

I usually don’t blog about my daily personal life but figured since it’s a new year and it was my first work out, why not!

So was today your first work out for 2015 or ever? How did it go? Did you have any gym fears leading up to it? You better bet you will be sore tomorrow!! I hope you achieve your goals this year and make some new “gym” friends along the way!

Have a fabulous rest of the week! Just stick with it!!

7 Reasons why your New Year Resolutions Fail

#1 You are just not that serious about it. Well you were in that moment when you were caught up in the whirl wind of the ideal of accomplishing something spectacular this new year. You were pumped and excited and feeling like Super Woman!

#2 You are being deceived. Your inner demons are chattering away a million reasons every second of the day as to why you are not going to succeed.

#3 You are Lazy.

#4 Your adult ADD has kicked into high gear and you have completely lost interest, however you are already dreaming up a new resolution you are sure to follow.

#5 You are a procrastinator! I have 12 months to see this goal through. I will start again in March, May, October…..umm next year!?

#6 You are impatient. If you are trying to change your body or eating habits, the results are just not fast enough! Changing your eating habits will not help you lose 20 plus pounds in two weeks.

#7 You have a million Excuses: not enough time, not enough dedication, not enough motivation. I have 10 kids, 2 jobs, etc…

Read my no excuses post here.

Did you notice the common denominator in all the reasons? They all begin with YOU!

Don’t let YOU DEFEAT YOU!!

Have patience, ignore the doubts, don’t give up, be dedicated, keep your faith, and find ways to enjoy your new journey along the way!

YOU GOT THIS!

Never again! Bad dreams and co-sleeping with your child! #momstruggle

My babies are older now. It’s been a good four year since we have had a little bitty baby in the house. Some days I miss that. Mine are 5 and 8 now.

Some nights I lay awake day dreaming about how I wish they were still little enough to snuggle with at night. Little warm and lavender smelling heaters to keep you warm and cozy all night. I would long for a night they would ask to sleep with us because they were afraid of a shadow on the wall of some sort.

It just doesn’t really happen here.

In those day dreams this is exactly what I had envisioned……

*image found at www.all-creatures.org
*image found at http://www.all-creatures.org

See isn’t this so sweet!!? Momma Cat is snuggling baby cat keeping her little safe and sound. Awe… No more bad dreams baby, Mommy is here!

Can I just interrupt this mushy moment with a little dose of reality!?

Well it finally happened last night! Our 5 year old daughter came bolting in our room tears and all with that sweet little innocent voice: “Daddy I want you!”

“Okay get in the middle of us!”

That warm sweet lavender scented soft baby has vanished leaving me with a sleepy, whiney, very boney, sweaty ball of a mess child! She didn’t smell so sweet, or lovely for that matter! More like Chicken Nuggets and Cheetos, laced with smelly feet!

I can’t recall much but if I could paint you a picture I am pretty sure my night looked a lot like these pictures to follow..

*image found at www.cuteaholic.com
*image found at http://www.cuteaholic.com

We started the night out in my favorite sleeping position. Momma on her back! Now imagine a life size 5 year old on my tummy, and I am not quiet that wide! 🙂

That position left me winded and uncomfortable so I rolled over onto my side. This is where her sweaty hair was suffocating me!

*image found on www.galleryhip.com

I manage to push her off my face and try this half side, half stomach position.

*imagine found at www.3b.bp.blogspot.com
*imagine found at http://www.3b.bp.blogspot.com

I suspect we got away with this co-sleeping position for a good portion of the night. Well, until my shoulder started to hurt and my side began to ache!

I decided it was time to give the whole tummy position a run for it’s money! After all it’s probably close to 2 in the morning and I am beginning to feel severely UNCOMFORTABLE!

Oh brother.. I am going Apes, Bananas!!

Why can’t she roll over and sleep next to her DADDY!? It was HE WHO LET THE LITTLE DARLING INTO OUR BED! Why ME, Why ME!? Why am I the only one being pressed down on, kicked, slapped, elbowed, kneed, sweated, and slobbered on!!!!??

She is Child by day, Ninja Warrior by night!

Do you struggle with not feeling good enough for God?

“Most of us were taught that God would love us if and when we change. In fact, God loves you so that you can change. What empowers change, what makes you desirous of change, is the experience of love. It is that inherent experience of love that becomes the engine of change.”

-Richard Rohr

Quote  from the book Crash the Chatterbox by Steven Furtick

Before I elaborate I must say that I am really enjoying this book! I highly suggest picking up a copy.

Something deeply rooted in my mind since my childhood is that I am never going to be holy enough for God. I could do more for him, I could be better. I am never on the right track, never paying enough attention to him, never reading enough of my bible, never worshiping him enough to get to that place of true certainty that I am loved by him, and he is pleased with me.  I am just down right not good enough to be called a child of God because I just can’t seem to get this whole Child of God, Jesus follower down! I actually feel guilt and condemnation when I go days without picking up my bible. Then I think, well now I have to start all the way over to get back in his good graces.

How stupid is this!

Progress with your walk with Christ comes little by little. We have an enemy who is pushing back against us the whole way. He wants us to have none of the victories Christ already died for us to have. We are overcomers, we are saved, we are healed, we are made righteous in his sight through the blood of his one and only begotten Son, Jesus. We are forgiven, we are loved unconditionally, and his mercy and grace is new every day.

Joyce Meyer says it best: “I may not be where I need to be, but thank God I am not where I use to be!” Progress

Jesus already paid the price for my sins, past, present, and future. So why I am always fighting, waging war within myself, within my mind to try to get to him. To believe this is really true! Why do I waiver in my faith. In my heart I believe with every ounce of my being. I believe I am free, I believe I am saved. My mind however is just always being attacked with negativity, doubt.

Maybe you struggle with this mindless chatter as well? These lies that keep playing over and over and over in your mind. You did this and this today, God is so not pleased. Whelp, maybe tomorrow after you pray and read your bible for an hour you will be okay again. I am not saying that we don’t have to repent and ask for forgiveness of our sins, of course we do. These feelings of guilt and condemnation linger way after confession and asking for forgiveness.

Satan loves to make us believe that getting to God is a LOT OF WORK, BUT HE IS A LIAR.

Well actually it was a lot of Work for Jesus, He took our place and atoned for our sins. He did the hard part for us all, so that we could be free and live in his Victory over Death!

Steven Furtick knocked it out of the park when he elaborated on the first chatter told to Eve. It was actually an ah ha moment in my mind, and I want to share it with you because maybe you struggle like me, maybe this truth will give you some hope and a fresh start to your faith, and your stupid thoughts bouncing around up there!

I am going to take this straight out of Chapter 4 of Crash the Chatterbox.

This is after the fruit has been eaten and now Adam and Eve are hiding from God in the Garden.

“Yes, the serpent is a master of asking questions to insinuate things about God’s intentions: “Did God really say….” Thankfully, God counters those questions with a question of His own: “Where are you?”

God doesn’t ask because He needs the information. He knows His way around this garden. He asks so that Adam can locate himself in relation to his God. So the hiding can stop.

Adam’s answer is straightforward enough: “I head you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked: so I hid.”

And God’s next question is my favorite of all. It is the ultimate counter-question, and it’s the source of our separation from God: “Who told you that you were naked?”

Implicit in God’s question “Who told you that?” is at least part of the answer: Because it sure wasn’t Me.”

Steven Furtick Crash the Chatterbox

Those words across my iPad  pierced my soul. It knotted my stomach and then released tears down my eyes. Really it was a release of bondage rooted with my doubts. “Because it sure wasn’t Me.”

In a few days we start a new year. I might have made the mistake of not keeping my eyes on God for the past few weeks, but He didn’t go anywhere.

Our Father is a patient and steadfast Father. HE LOVES us, and that LOVE for us is what continues to change me. As his child, I must do what Paul tells us, keep on pressing on towards the prize!

I am not hiding from my guilt of not being a perfect human being. No, instead I am walking by faith and not by sight, and I am clinging on to the Hope and the Promise of the Word’s spoken in Romans 5:

Peace and Hope

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

The TRUTH ALWAYS REVIELS the LIES!

Because of His blood, I am good enough, not by my acts, not by my deeds, not by my success or by lack of any shortcomings, or because I did or didn’t read my bible this morning. Because of my belief and  my faith, and because I have been saved by Christ, God’s Holy Spirit is always with me, always helping me, convicting me to change, because I AM LOVED and so are you my friend!

Now go back and read the title quote again. 🙂

SMASH THE LIES AND SMASH THE STUPID LYING CHATTERBOX!

New Years Resolutions

Isaiah 43:18-19

18 “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.

I have always been one who takes New Years Resolutions pretty serious. I enjoy the ideal of new beginnings and tend to use January 1rst as a reason to change some bad habits picked up during the previous year.

I have not made my “official” New Years 2015 resolution list yet, but I have been reflecting back on my list I made this time last year. I plan on making my resolution list in this post, so keep reading to find out what makes the list!

2014 was a year of excitement, change, new beginnings, and accomplishments.

We fostered 4 children in our home.

The new gym opened up.

My dear step daughter made Cheerleader and now is an official teenager!

Went on a beach vacation to a new location never previously visited.

My son played his first year of Popwarner football and scored his first touch down!

I started a new position that was created over the summer at the preschool, Specials Coordinator.

My husband took on a new job position at his work place.

My daughter started preschool and turned the big 5.

My step son turned 16 and is now a proud owner of a drivers permit.

I met some pretty new amazing friends over the summer.

We started attending a new church which plans on planting in February 2015.

I started running for the fun of it. (Over 120 miles to be exact off and on over the year.) I really didn’t get serious about it until August.

We got some new pets.

I got to see and visit most of my family a lot more then previous years. 🙂

Looking back now I see so many blessings God showered over us in 2014.  2014 was a GOOD year!

Often times I felt like a crazy woman trying to keep up with it all, but in the end it all worked out the way it was suppose to. So did I keep my resolutions? Actually yes for the most part I did. I am seriously thinking about keeping my 2014 list and maybe expanding on it this year.

So instead of rolling out my journal this morning and writing them all down, I decided to blog about them instead. Here comes my *top secret 2014 Resolution List only printed in my journal! 🙂

Be in God's word more. Seek Him first always.
Learn others needs and help them. Show them agape love and do it by choice and on purpose.
Remind my Husband every day how special he is to me and how much I love him and need him in my life.
Strive to be a better Mom always meeting the individual needs of each one of my children.
Become a better runner, make healthy eating choices, drink more water, and hit the weights.
Call my family members more.
Believe in myself and know my worth and value in Christ.
Be thankful More and complain Less.
Mind my own business.

I would like to add for 2015…

Ease up on social media with the exception of promoting my blog of course! ;)
Don't Sweat the small stuff.
Don't worry about things that are not in my control!

So there you have it! My raw resolutions list for 2015.

Do you make a resolutions list? Do you keep it or do you end up tossing it out the window a month into the new year? I would love to hear some things you have on your list for 2015! Please comment below!

I pray that your New Year is the best one yet! I also pray that you have the endurance and the faith to keep any resolutions you make for yourself!

CHRISTMAS TREE FRO, HOLIDAY HAIR HOW TO!

Are you competing in a Holiday Spirit Dress Up competition? Got invited to a Holiday Cheer Dress up party and need that over the top attention grabber?

LOOK NO FARTHER!!!! I have the sure to please Holiday FRO for your awesome Holiday/ Christmas  Get Up!! The idea came to me in the middle of the Holiday Décor Isle at the Dollar Store. I was competing for the GRAND PRIZE for our Holiday Spirit Week at work and I knew I had to come up with something that was really crazy cool! I am the Queen of Corny! Well let me inform you, I work at a Preschool so Corny is COOL with the Littles! The children LOVED my Christmas Tree Fro and the adults got a good GIGGLE out of it as well! It was a WIN-WIN!

My costume was actually called “A Present Under the Tree.”

I picked up 2 poster boards from WAL-MART and wrapped them with Christmas wrapping paper. I then stapled straps out of ribbon, and pasted a BIG RED BOW on the center of the now “present.” The present covered my chest and mid torso along with my back.

Now.. how to get the FABULOUS CHRISTMAS TREE FRO!

Hair clips

Garland (You can get creative with your color choice.)

Mini Ornaments (Dollar Store $1 for a package of 20.)

Clip On Ornaments (WALMART $2.)

Christmas tree topper (I actually went cheap and made mine with a yellow folder, tape, and foil!)

HOW TO CREATE CHRISTMAS TREE FRO

steps

PREP YOUR HAIR …. The day before I sported my BEACH WAVES Look for our WILD CAMO Spirit Day. You can find this tutorial HERE! When I distress my hair it makes it thicker. I have thin hair so I am not sure freshly clean, blow dried hair will hold as well on the top.

#1 Shape the tissue paper around the bottom of the toilet paper roll to form a shape that looks like a pawn in the board game SORRY. Place this creation on the top of your head, leaving plenty of hair in the front to cover up the base.

#2 Flip your head upside down holding your base with one hand and gathering all our hair around the base with the other hand. Secure hair with the hair tie. It doesn’t have to be painfully tight, just make sure it is secure. I stuffed the remaining hair inside the toilet paper roll.  (I didn’t use any hair spray.)

You should now look like a Character out of WHOVILLE! 🙂 HOLLAR

#3 Start at the base of your hair and begin to wrap the garland up your hair. I secured the beginning of the strand with the mini butterfly clip. Keep wrapping until your head is covered in the garland.

Now in the photo above you see my ornaments already attached to the garland. This is because I decided to turn this into a blog post while I was taking down the FRO! You can attach the ornaments first using crafting wire, but I recommend attaching them after your hair is wrapped with the garland. This allows you to place them exactly where you want them on your fro tree!

#4 ADD the mini ornaments using craft wire serving as ornament hooks, and strand your lights necklace. Make sure you turn the lights on first!! ADD tinsel if you desire!

#5 ADD on the heavier clip on ornaments if you wish. Don’t forget your Tree Topper! I secured my yellow star with a clip shown in the clips photo above by attaching the star onto the toilet paper roll.

I completed my look with these flashy eye catching Christmas tree light bulb earrings…found at WALMART for $3!

I wore this for 6 hours and didn’t experience a headache until I started to take it down. It only took me about 10 minuets from start to finish however I did practice the night before! Oh and guess what!!? I TOOK HOME FIRST PLACE!! 🙂
